Anthony Gaines Tullahassee, Oklahoma

Born in the historic community of Tullahassee, Anthony Gaines is the son of Virginia Milton and was lovingly raised by his grandparents, Josephine and Fletcher Gaines. Growing up in a large and close-knit family alongside their ten children, he learned the values of faith, hard work, respect, and perseverance that would shape his life and ministry.

Anthony attended Carter G. Woodson School, where he distinguished himself both academically and athletically. An outstanding basketball player, he earned recognition and honors for his talent, dedication, and leadership on the court. His success in sports reflected the determination and discipline that would later become hallmarks of his personal and spiritual journey.

As he matured, Anthony experienced a life-changing relationship with God that transformed his purpose and direction. Answering the call to ministry, he devoted himself to serving others, sharing the Gospel, and strengthening the faith of those around him.

Today, Pastor Anthony Gaines serves as the pastor of Mt. Bethel Missionary Baptist Church in Porter—the very church where he was raised and nurtured in the faith. Returning to lead his family church is a testament to his commitment to God, his congregation, and the community that helped shape him. Through his preaching, leadership, and service, Pastor Gaines continues to inspire others to walk in faith, trust in God's plan, and live lives of purpose and devotion.

His journey from a young boy in Tullahassee, to an honored athlete, and ultimately to a shepherd of God's people, stands as a powerful example of faith, perseverance, and the enduring impact of family, community, and God's grace.
